Frequently Asked Questions

Regular inspections help identify faults before they become costly or dangerous. They reduce the risk of electrical fires, minimise downtime, improve workplace safety and help businesses meet their legal responsibilities.

In Ireland, you can verify whether an electrical contractor is a Registered Electrical Contractor (REC) by using the Safe Electric Register before arranging any electrical work.

We understand that minimising disruption is important. Wherever possible, we plan our work around your business operations to complete projects safely and efficiently while keeping downtime to a minimum.

Under the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (General Application) Regulations 2007, employers must ensure electrical installations are inspected and tested by a competent person at suitable intervals. For many commercial premises, inspections are typically recommended every five years, although higher-risk environments may require more frequent inspections.

Under IS 3218, most commercial and industrial fire alarm systems should be professionally inspected and serviced every six months by a competent person. Higher-risk premises may require quarterly servicing, with an annual inspection carried out to ensure the system remains fully compliant and operating effectively.

In accordance with the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (General Application) Regulations 2007 (S.I. No. 299 of 2007), employers are responsible for maintaining safe electrical equipment in the workplace. PAT Testing is typically recommended every 12 months, although testing intervals may vary depending on the equipment and its use.
